Why Microsoft Sellers Ignore Great Partner Solutions
One of the most common questions I hear is, "We have a great solution. Why aren't Microsoft sellers bringing us into customer conversations?"
It's a fair question. In many cases the solution really is strong. The partner has customer references, a capable team, and a compelling story.

The challenge is that Microsoft's field organization isn't structured to evaluate hundreds of unique partner offerings. Sellers are trained to execute repeatable sales motions that have already been proven to move deals forward.
"What partners often see as a badge, Microsoft sees as risk reduction."
That's why qualifications such as Advanced Specializations, Azure Expert MSP, and Certified Software Designations matter so much. These aren't marketing credentials. They're signals to Microsoft that a partner has already been vetted, measured, and validated. They've demonstrated that they can deliver a particular customer outcome in a way that's consistent and repeatable.
When a seller sees a partner who can execute a funded assessment, proof of value, migration engagement, or deployment accelerator, they immediately understand how that partner fits into a sales cycle. They don't have to create a story from scratch. The motion already exists.
The most successful partners I've worked with understand this. Rather than trying to persuade Microsoft why they're different, they focus on demonstrating why they're a safe and scalable extension of an existing Microsoft strategy.
