You’re Not Too Old — You Might Be Too Muted

A lot of people worry they’re “too old” for the opportunities they want.
But in my work, age isn’t the barrier I see holding leaders back.
The real barrier is vibrancy — or more specifically, the loss of it.
Not energy.
Not youth.
Not personality.
I’m talking about the vibrancy that comes from conviction, clarity, vision, and heart. These are the qualities that make people lean in because they can feel you.
I’ve coached leaders who run multi‑billion‑dollar businesses.
I’ve helped people step into roles they once thought were out of reach.
And here’s what I have learned across every age and every industry:
The leaders who get hired at 45, 55, 65+ all share the same traits:
They know what they stand for.
They communicate with heart. I like to call it 'meaning quotient.'
They express their ideas with clarity.
They show up with presence, not performance.
None of that is age‑dependent.
What is age‑dependent is this:
As people get older, they often start muting themselves.
They become more cautious.
More polished.
More “professional.”
And in the process, they unintentionally dim the very qualities that make them compelling.
Your body ages.
Your résumé ages.
But your brand doesn’t have to.
A brand only ages when it stops expressing heart, stops evolving, or stops showing up with conviction.

So if you’re worried about ageism, here’s the reframe:
You’re not too old.
You’re too muted.
Show up with heart, and people will see you.
If you want simple, heart‑centered brand fixes based on what top global leaders do to build trust and influence, follow me. I share the same strategies I use with executives — translated into steps anyone can use.
